Having just finished off its first undefeated regular season in 16 years, the Liverpool football team finds that it still has to hold on to neighborhood bragging rights against Cicero-North Syracuse if it wants to go anywhere in the Section III Class AA playoffs.

There's a real chance that the Liverpool and Cicero-North Syracuse football teams could meet up in the opening round of the Section III Class AA playoffs. For now, though, both teams are quite content with what they've accomplished, whether it's the Warriors assured of the top seed from the AA-1 division or the Northstars just making it back to the post-season after a prolonged absence.

Much of the Cicero-North Syracuse field hockey team's 2014 season was spent traveling elsewhere, as it played 10 consecutive road games while waiting for the new Field Turf at Bragman Stadium to get finished. At last, though, the turf was ready, and on Monday night the Northstars came back home in the sweetest way possible, recording a 1-0 victory over its neighbor and rival, Liverpool.

Jaydakis Scott personally made sure that the Liverpool football team was not ceding local bragging rights to Cicero-North Syracuse - at least not in 2014, anyway. Scott's breathtaking effort - 309 yards on 26 carries, five touchdowns - helped the Warriors roll past the Northstars 39-12 Friday night at LHS Stadium and maintain possession of the "Star Wars" Cup for another 12 months.
