Cicero-North Syracuse will see its softball team defend its state Class AA championship and, at the end of the spring season, host the state track and field championships on June 6 and 7, just before a new turf and track are installed at the Bragman Stadium complex. As Nottingham’s Chyanna Canada galloped down the court early in the fourth quarter of Saturday's Section III Class AA girls basketball semifinal at Onondaga Community College's Allyn Hall, only Cicero-North Syracuse's McKayla Roberts of Cicero-North Syracuse stood in the way. But instead of letting the 6-foot-2 Canada score the easy basket, the 5-foot-3-inch Roberts stood tall and took a hard charge to give the Northstars the ball back.
