Quickly shaking off the disappointment of a second-place team finish in the Section III Class AA championship meet on Nov. 2, four members of the Liverpool boys cross country team gave the best possible response.
Northstars earn berth in state Class AA final four
Reid Garner struck again. So did the Cicero-North Syracuse girls soccer team's stifling defense, protecting a lead the way it has done throughout what is turning into a long post-season run. Those elements, put together, have the Northstars on the way back to the state Class AA final four after it defeated Section II champion Niskayuna 1-0 in Saturday's regional final at Stillwater High School.

In a complete and overwhelming manner, the Cicero-North Syracuse girls soccer team dismissed everyone in its path and earned its first Section III Class AA championship since 2007. And the top-seeded Northstars saved the best performance for Friday night's title game at SUNY-Cortland, overwhelming no. 2 seed Baldwinsville 3-0 behind two goals from Reid Garner and a late tally from Hanna Haven.

But when it did, the results were stunning, as Reid Garner's pair of goals pushed the Northstars past the Hornets 2-0.
Every year, as a way to give back to the community, the Liverpool High School girls’ volleyball teams hold a craft fair at the high school. This year, they’re doing a little something more. The teams will be collecting fabric to make blankets for the children at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.

The Cicero-North Syracuse’s field hockey team's focus, in the week leading up to Sunday's Section III Class A semifinal against Liverpool at Fayetteville-Manlius, was on putting shots on goal, according to head coach Pat Kennedy. That focus sure seemed to pay off.
Liverpool to take on CBA in Class AA semis
Four impressive quarters and six turnovers later, the Liverpool football team is moving along in the Section III Class AA playoffs, bound for what could be one of the biggest games in the program's recent history. The Warriors' defense provided many of the highlights in Friday night's 28-0 victory over West Genesee in the AA opening round at LHS Stadium, as those six takeaways led to 21 of the team's points.

Most of the regular-season athletic contests between Liverpool and Cicero-North Syracuse take place in the neighborhoods of the two bordering districts. But that was not the case in Wednesday night’s girls swim meet, held at the Northstars’ “home” pool at Le Moyne College. Regardless of the venue, though, it was the Warriors finishing on top by a score of 93-85.
Liverpool could play C-NS in AA sectional semifinals
For all they had done during the regular season, the Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool girls soccer teams had emerged as the front-runners to earn the Section III Class AA title, which the Warriors have won each of the last two years.
