Liverpool woman in critical condition after crash in Cicero

— State Police in North Syracuse investigated a two-car personal injury accident that occurred shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday on East Taft Road at Totman Road in the town of Cicero.

A Ford Focus being driven by Leanne Schaefer, age 51, of 3 Donald Place, Salina, was stopped on East Taft Road waiting to turn left onto Totman Road when she was struck from behind by a Pontiac Grand Prix, which was driven by Timothy S. McAdoo, age 29, from Odessa, NY.

The Grand Prix had been in the right lane following a delivery truck and shifted to the left lane only to find the Focus in its path. The impact drove the Ford across the road and into a ditch. Rescue workers used the "jaws of life" to pry off the vehicle’s door to remove Schaefer.

Schaefer was transported to Upstate Medical Center where she is reported to be in critical condition. McAdoo sustained lower back pain but declined treatment. He was issued a ticket for following too closely.
