Mattydale First and foremost I would like to thank the residents of the Third Ward for electing me to the position of Town of Salina Third Ward Councilor. I realize that as I take the reins in this ward, I will take on the same difficult challenges that all those in local government have been facing recently. I am well-equipped to help the residents of Mattydale through these tough times, and want you all to know that I am just a phone call away. As a longtime resident of Mattydale, I look forward to serving the community. As I begin my new term, I just want to remind you of a few things that will help you get through the winter a little better.
The last day of Christmas tree pickup was Jan. 31. Trees left out after this period will be picked up after March 15 when yard waste pick-up resumes.
During the winter months, snow removal is constantly on the minds of our highway department employees, but there are a few things that our residents should remember as well. When clearing your driveways of snow, please keep in mind that it is illegal to plow or blow snow into the road; this applies to all town, county and state roads. If you have hired a plow contractor to clear your driveway, please inform your plow driver of this policy; as they may be ticketed if they are found to be in violation of this policy. Also, property owners who have a sidewalk in front of their home or business should be aware that they are responsible for clearing snow from the sidewalk on their own property. Many residents, including children walking to school, use the sidewalks to get around, so it is important to keep them clear.
In addition, restrictions for on-street parking continue through the remainder of the winter months. From Nov. 15 to April 15 each year, on-street parking is prohibited from 12 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily, to allow plow drivers to clear snow from the streets during overnight hours. Cars parked on the street during these hours may be ticketed.
Again, I look forwarding to serving the residents of the Third Ward. If you have any questions, or I can be of further assistance, please contact me at 727-0100 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
