On Tuesday, Nov. 29, Major Martin Debock with the Syracuse Army Recruiting Battalion, Master Sergeant Peter Palumb and Battalion Public Affairs Specialist Mark Burns joined Senator DeFrancisco to announce the drive and discuss the importance of helping soldiers stay connected to family and friends back home. You can support the Senator’s collection drive by delivering your used cell phones to Senator DeFrancisco’s District Office, located at 800 State Office Building, 333 E. Washington St., Syracuse, or a variety of other local drop-off points (see right).
Donated cell phones will be sent to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each phone. Cell Phones for Soldiers uses this money to provide free talk time in the form of pre-paid calling cards to soldiers abroad. The senator’s collection drive runs through January.
